Trinity Lutheran Seminary is a professional school on the graduate level. The Master of Divinity degree program accounts for the largest percentage of student enrollment. Requiring the equivalent of four years of full-time study, it provides preparation for the ordained ministry of the church.

Successful completion of a total of 128 quarter hours of academic work is required for graduation with the Master of Divinity degree.

Admission to the Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree program is based on evidence of ability to undertake satisfactory graduate work. In addition to the general requirements for all students, specific requirements for admission include:

  1. A Bachelor of Arts degree, or the equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
  2. Letters of reference attesting to academic ability and personal qualifications for ministry.
  3. An autobiographical essay.
  4. ELCA entrance decision or the equivalent for those from other denominations.
