The Alum Association of Trinity Lutheran Seminary was established by the Alumni Council in the fall of 2006. As a dues paying organization we are able to have an impact each year on the debt load of our new graduates. We also support activities of the Alumni Relations office at Trinity Days each year.
At its core the Alum Association seeks to raise awareness and have a direct impact on the challenge of student debt. As funding from churchwide and synods has been reduced the burden of debt can increase. Each year we give debt-reduction gifts to our new grads, with the goal of making every new grad's first and last loan payment to Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Graduates of Trinity, ELTS and Hamma pay annual dues of $50, or $25 if retired or in your first five years of ministry. The Alum Association runs on a calendar year for membership. We are still accepting 2010 memberships.
Association members receive:
- Discount to Trinity Days
- Discount to continuing education events
- Membership card
- Membership gift from Trinity Lutheran Seminary
Upon graduation all students receive a two-year complimentary membership. The association runs on calendar years and is currently accepting 2010 memberships.
Making a Difference for Today's Trinity Students
A minimum of one-half of the association dues will be spent for debt reduction gifts, given each spring to graduating seniors who are carrying student loans through Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Seminarian student debt has been a concern for at least two decades, and that concern has expanded greatly in the last few years. Additionally your dues help to support alum gatherings, receptions and anniversary celebrations such as our Alum reception at Trinity Days.

Your participation in the association will make a difference for each student. The seminary’s mission is: “Trinity Lutheran Seminary forms leaders for Christ’s church at work in the world.” Your dues and all gifts to Trinity provide for this mission every day. The alum association is relatively new. In the future we hope to expand the programs and incentives we can offer alums who join. Your dues help to make this happen.
