Giving Priorities

TRINITY FUND
The Trinity Fund is the annual fund; it is a critical source of unrestricted income that provides support for the day-to-day operation of Trinity Lutheran Seminary. It is the main life-line for administrative expenses, student support, faculty and staffing, maintenance, and general need.  The Trinity Fund is also the most immediate resource for responding to unusual or unexpected developments, such as dramatic fluctuations in performance of investments. The increasing cost of theological education requires an annual goal of $500,000 for the Trinity Fund. To make your contribution to the Trinity Fund Annual Challenge, click here.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship aid helps students by offsetting the cost of tuition and increased living expenses. Scholarships help to alleviate the burden of financial worry, allowing students to focus instead on schoolwork, family responsibilities, and discerning God’s call for their lives. You can name a scholarship at Trinity Lutheran Seminary for $25,000 or contribute to one of our existing scholarship lines. For a full listing of named scholarships or more information on an existing line, please contact a member of the Development Team.

GENERAL ENDOWMENT

Trinity’s endowment provides a solid foundation for the annual budget. Endowment revenue is the source of restricted and unrestricted income that supports students and programs such as the library and music funds. As of December 31, 2009, Trinity’s endowment was $24.5 million. Among our top fundraising priorities is growing the endowment. You can help by donating directly to general endowment with cash or stock options, or make a planned gift through your estate.

PLANNED GIFTS

Sustaining the Trinity Fund and growing the endowment are the two best ways to secure the future of Trinity Lutheran Seminary. You can help by making a planned gift through your estate; this includes your will, trust, charitable gift annuity, life insurance, retirement, stocks and bonds, and real estate. You can also make cash gifts through stocks and other securities. For more information on securities gifts, click here. Our Development Team will assist you through the planning process, from beginning to end, to help make your legacy a part of Trinity’s future.

Everyone who makes a planned gift to Trinity Lutheran Seminary becomes a member of the honorary Christ the Teacher Society. Named after the Christ the Teacher Courtyard located on Trinity’s campus, the Christ the Teacher Society commemorates the long history of academic excellence employed at Trinity Lutheran Seminary and its predecessor seminaries. CHAIRS

By employing a distinguished faculty, Trinity Lutheran Seminary remains committed to maintaining the highest standard in theological education.  Funding faculty chairs strengthens faculty positions without undue financial burden on students. These funds are held in perpetuity. Only a portion of the investment return is used to support the specified purpose of the fund.

HONORS AND MEMORIALS

Honor and memorial  gifts honor the life and memory of an individual.  Depending on their use and designation, these gifts must meet certain requirements set forth by the seminary. Generally, honors and memorials are used to fund scholarships, faculty chairs or other special projects and programs of the seminary.
